We Are
Women Who Give A Buck
We don’t technically exist. We are a non-entity.
We have no directors, presidents, or treasurers.
We have no bank account.
We have no operating budget, because our members write their checks directly to the recipient charity.
We have no religious or political affiliation.
“We”, collectively, are just a group of women getting together
during the year because we care about our community.
Our core group of organizers are busy women with compassionate hearts who are committed to making a positive impact on local charities in need.
WHO
We Need
We are looking for women to join us by becoming members and agreeing to contribute whatever you can at each of the meetings throughout the year.
All donations will go to local area non-profits. The idea is to keep it LOCAL and make an impact that WE can SEE in our communities!
The goal of the group is to support various local charities by raising awareness about the wonderful work being done by each organization.
How We Help
Choosing a Charity
Representatives from the 3 charities will be asked to make an eight-minute presentation to the group about that charities initiative and why they are deserving of the group’s vote for the winning donation.
The Voting
After the presentations, a ballot is held for those in attendance and the charity with the most votes by simple majority will be the recipient of the group donation.
Previous Recipient
During the ballot count, the previous winning charity will give a brief presentation
on how the funds donated at
the previous meeting were used.
Write Your Check!
All members then write checks to the winning charity and will receive an individual receipt from the organization.
Multiple checks are great -
consider a corporate match!
Can't attend??
Just go to the charity's website or mail your check within a week. Please note that you are with Locals Giving Locally.
Nonprofit Organizations
Eligibility Requirements
To be a potential recipient, an organization must meet all of the following criteria:
Recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. In general, no schools, booster clubs, or religious organizations. However, exceptions for programs of these organizations will be considered by the members.
In operation for at least three years.
Serve in the Denver-Metro area.
Must be in good standing with the Attorney General and Secretary of State.
In addition, all potential recipients must agree to:
Not create, sell or distribute a list with any of our members’ contact information or solicit members for additional contributions, unless an individual member opts-in directly.
Provide individual thank you/tax receipts directly to members.
If selected, send a representative to the subsequent event to make another 5-minute presentation on the impact of the contribution and provide a short summary of the funded work.
Nomination Process
Any member in good standing may nominate a potential recipient. This is a diverse, inclusive group of women. We ask that you keep this in mind when nominating potential recipients and look to nominate organizations with broad appeal.
Each nonprofit can only be added to the potential recipient pool once. Nonprofits with multiple programs cannot be nominated for each program separately. Each nonprofit only needs one nomination to be added to the charity pool. Multiple nominations will not increase entries.
Nominations are subject eligibility requirements. Organizations that meet the eligibility criteria will be added to our potential recipient pool.
Selection Process
The three organizations for each event are drawn at random from the potential recipient pool.
Organizations will be asked to present in the order drawn.
Each of the three nominated organizations will have five minutes to present to the members. Presentations will be followed by a brief question and answer period.
All potential recipients must have a Nomination Form and a Nonprofit Qualification Form on file.
The recipient is selected by a plurality voting system; the organization that receives the most votes will receive the group donation.
The two organizations that are not selected cannot be selected for the next event but are eligible for subsequent events.
The selected organization is not eligible for another award for 24 months. After that time the organization can be re-nominated to go back on the potential recipients list.
